Tardy Attendance Policy

Tardy Attendance Policy
Attendance Matterss

Chronically tardy students miss out on learning opportunities in the classroom, disrupt learning for other students, and have less time to develop peer relationships.  For example, if a student has two 5 minute tardies to school each week, by the end of the school year, the student will have missed 6 hours of instructional time.

All students are expected to be in class when the bell rings whether it be to school or after a passing period.  Students who are tardy to school will not be admitted to class without a tardy slip from the Attendance Office.  Teachers will mark students tardy in PowerSchool when necessary throughout the day.  Attendance can be viewed by parents/guardians in PowerSchool.

Counselors will monitor student attendance and issue a lunch intervention when a student accumulates 5 tardies. While in lunch intervention, counselors will conduct lessons, confer with students, and review why attendance matters.
