Phase II Front of School

On April 12, Phase II with more students returning to campus as part of the Onsite Hybrid model begins.  This presentation by Principal Erik Sullivan will answer many of your questions.  You can also view the slides here.

School Tour

Many students have never been on campus or need a refresher.  View this awesome video by ASB students Lillian Hubbard and Emilee Mercado.

Bell Schedule

  • School will begin at 8:30 AM for the remainder of the school year.  The bell schedule will change slightly and can be viewed here.
  • The students participating in the Onsite Hybrid model will be coming on campus Monday-Thursday and all students will be doing Online Only learning on Fridays. 
  • Students coming on campus can arrive as early as 8:00 AM.  They will wait on the Shuttle Court until the first warning bell rings at 8:15 AM.  

Parent Form Opt-in Required Form

  • For those students participating in the Onsite Hybrid model, the Acknowledgment of On-Site School Instruction Option form must be turned in by April 12. 
  • You can complete the online form or the student can turn in a paper copy on April 12.  

Health Check Prior to Coming On Campus

  • Prior to coming on campus, students are asked to take their temperatures and complete the online ClearPass Health Check on the website or app.  Students will be required to show the ClearPass screen on their cell phone as they enter campus. 
  • If students are unable to use the ClearPass app, they may complete the Health Check paper form and turn that in each day instead.  

Health and Safety

  • Classrooms have be rearranged so students are 5-6 feet apart.  
  • All people on campus, including students, are required to wear face coverings.
  • All people on campus, including students, are required to maintain 6 feet social distancing.
  • Classroom windows and doors will open to allow for air flow.  We suggest students wear layers to adapt to the classroom conditions.
  • Classrooms have air purifiers.
  • Students will be asked to wash their hands or use hand sanitizers upon entering school, entering classrooms, before and after PE, before and after lunch.

Food and Drink

  • Water fountains have been disabled.  Students are asked to bring their own water bottles.  New water bottle filling stations are available.
  • Eating is not allowed on campus with the exception of students who have pre-arranged onsite afternoon activities such as tutoring.  These students may eat lunch on campus during the designated lunch period in the lunch court at designated seats.  They may bring a lunch or pick up a free lunch on campus. 
  • Students who are not staying for a pre-arranged activity, may pick up a free lunch and breakfast on their way out of campus. 
  • Meals can be picked up at Mira Mesa High School or Wangenheim Middle School between 12-2PM.  Challenger is no longer a Grab N'Go Meal curbside pick-up location.

Traffic and Being a Good Neighbor

  • Please allow extra time in the morning to deal with traffic, especially in the first couple of weeks as people get used to the area.
  • There are two three-minute drop-off and pick-up areas on Parkdale Ave.  
  • Please use the crosswalk on Parkdale Ave and following the street lights on Mira Mesa Blvd when crossing the street.
  • Please help us to be a good neighbor and do not park in front of driveways.
  • Please do not honk your horn.
  • Please dispose of your trash in proper receptacles.
  • U-turns are not allowed in front of Challenger on Parkdale Ave.
  • Students who use a scooter, skateboard, bicycle to get to and from school are required by California law to wear a helmet.  We recommend that students lock up their scooters, skateboards, bicycles in the bike rack.
